Subsection 10.11.6.1 of the NFPA 1, as amended by the State Fire Code, is amended to read as follows:
10.11.6.1 For other than one- and two-family dwellings, no hibachi, grill, or other similar devices used for cooking, heating, or any other purpose shall be used or kindled on any balcony, under any overhanging portion, or within 10 feet (3 m) of any structure.
EXCEPTION: In multi-story, multi-dwelling occupancies, where the fuel supply is piped in, gas-fueled grills shall be allowed on non-combustible balconies that are protected with fire sprinklers.
